Since the summer of 2006, the Enthusiasm-Awakeners singing group has gone daily** during the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race to sing for the runners. For the past several years, our group has extended an invitation to include other students of the meditation group to come and join us in this inspiring adventure.

**Except in 2020 when the race was in Austria, and an European singing group upheld the enthusiasm-banner . When the race returned to New York in 2021, we were unable to gather as a singing group. It is now 2022 and we are back 😀

We sing songs composed by Sri Chinmoy that are short, catchy and encouraging. While our group is not a refined singing group, the runners seem to appreciate our dedication, commitment and enthusiasm.

Here are some links to the Race — which is a sweet, spiritual odyssey even as much as it is a tough, physical endeavour.

Songs the Enthusiasm-Awakeners sing at
the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race

Sri Chinmoy composed over 23,000 songs in his lifetime (1931-2007). Most of these songs are in Bengali, his mother-language — but he also composed songs in English, a language which he was also proficient in. Our song group focuses on a very small portion of these songs — specifically songs Sri Chinmoy composed in English between December 1999 and September 2007.

Our singing group is honoured to clap and sing for the runners of the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race each morning. Please see the Race webpage for details about the race itself (https://3100.srichinmoyraces.org)

We sing at the race for about 30-45 minutes each day. Our singing begins promptly at 6:40 a.m., just 500 yards from the starting line. Visiting members of the international Sri Chinmoy Centre are welcome to join us. You do not need to know the songs — or even be able to sing well — just come! We’ll give you the lyrics and we sing the songs several times until you catch on. The main thing is the energy, enthusiasm and joy that you share with the runners and the community.

Tools for you to learn our “playlists”

If  —and only if— you do want to learn some of the song in advance, here are some tools to do so.

If you are planning on joining us this year –or even if you simply want to enjoy some oneness– please see the calendar and “playlists” of songs we have chosen to sing at the event. We start at 6:40 a.m. and typically sing for about 30-45 minutes. We repeat each song many times, so even if you do not learn the songs in advance you should be able sing along (we’ll lend you a set of lyrics).

If you would like to learn the songs in advance, see the “tools” below.
