Paree began writing choral arrangements of Sri Chinmoy’s songs when she was a young teenager. In her youth, she was encouraged to form a singing group with other similarly aged students of Sri Chinmoy. As her musical capacity and creative spirit grew, she began experimenting with simple arrangements — 40 years later her arrangements may be more complex but still maintain a child-like joy and exuberance.
A natural teacher and conductor, Paree leads several song groups and oftentimes invites a range of individuals — which include professional musicians to non-singers — to experience the joy of choral performances. Her enthusiasm for Sri Chinmoy’s compositions and the joy she brings create a magical atmosphere for the performers and audience alike.
On 9 March 2024, the Sri Chinmoy Centre Choir with vocal arrangements by Paree Atkin participated in the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival in Manhattan — and earned the “audience favorite” award.
