Maryland factoids: The capital of Maryland is Annapolis; its largest city is Baltimore. Today’s population in Maryland is approximately 6.25 million (averaging around 640 people per square mile). Marylands state tree is the White Oak ‘’; its state flower is the ‘Black-Eyed Susan’; snf its state bird the ‘Baltimore Oriole’. Maryland’s unofficial State Motto is: Fatti maschii, parole femine (strong deeds, gentle words).

- January 16, 1974. Sri Chinmoy delivers afternoon lecture (2 p.m.), entitled ‘Choice’, in West Chapel at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) in College Park, MD.
1975
- October 18, 1975. Sri Chinmoy offers as meditation and delivers a lecture entitled “Now” at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) in College Park, MD.
1976
- November 13-21, 1976. Sri Chinmoy’s attends the opening of the Jharna-Kala Gallery displaying his artwork in Bethesda Square, Bethesda, MD.
1982
- June 17, 1982. Sri Chinmoy delivers a lecture entitled “O My Seeker-Friends” in Tawes Theatre at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) in College Park, MD.
- On this day, as part of this 1982 “50 Oneness-State-Songs” lecture tour, Sri Chinmoy also ran 7-miles ‘solo’ in tribute to the soul of Maryland.
1989
April 13, 1989. Sri Chinmoy receives ‘The Governor’s Salute to Excellence’ the state’s highest individual honour from Gov. William Schaefer of MD.- May 13, 1989. Sri Chinmoy offers a piano concert — and delivers a lecture entitled “Happiness: My Dream-Fulfilled Reality” at the Shriver Hall at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
1990
- September 11, 1990. Sri Chinmoy offers a Peace Concert at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, MD.
1992
- May 15, 1992. Sri Chinmoy offers a Peace Concert at the Center for Adult Education at the University of Maryland (UMD) in College Park, MD. (tracks from this concert are on CD entitled Peace: Divinity’s Dream on Earth)

November 21, 1992. Sri Chinmoy offers a Peace Concert at Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore, MD.
1997
- July 1, 1997. A photo of Sri Chinmoy lifting 7,000 lbs. is published in The Baltimore Chronicle, in MD.
2003
- June 12, 2003. As part of his “Lifting Up the World with a Oneness-Heart” programme, Sri Chinmoy lifts Muhammad Ali and his wife Lonnie, at Oneness-Family School in Chevy Chase, MD.
1987-current: the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run passes through Maryland semi-annually and engages with its welcoming citizens (see example of photos from 2024).
