Nevada (NV). The 36th state to join the Union in 1864

Nevada factoids: The capital of Nevada is Carson City; its largest city (by pop.) is Las Vegas. Today’s population in Nevada is approximately 3.8 million (averaging around 27 people per square mile). Nevada’s state tree is the ‘ Great Basin Bristlecone Pine’; its state flower is the ‘Sagebrush’; and its state bird the ‘Mountain Bluebird’. Nevada’s State Motto is: “All for our country”.

1974

• April 17, 1974. Sri Chinmoy delivers a lecture entitled “The Practical Reality” at 2 p.m. in the Center for Religion and Life at the University of Nevada in Reno, NV
  • After the lecture, Sri Chinmoy answered the following questions:
    • Q: How can one know the God inside himself without becoming confused by the mind?
    • Q: Is there but one Satguru in any one age or are there many Satgurus at one time?
    • Q: If we fall asleep during meditation, does that mean we should sleep more at night so we can stay awake?
    • Q: How can we see the divine in another human being when each human being has so many faults?

1980-current

• June 22, 1980. “Sri Chinmoy Day” is declared by Proclamation by Governor Robert List as the SCMT USA Bicycle Relay cycle through Nevada as part of their non-stop relay through 18 states in 22 days.
• June 11, 1987. “Sri Chinmoy Peace Run Day” is declared by Proclamation by Nevada’s Governor Richard H. Bryan as the Peace Run visits the state.
• May 31, 1991. “Sri Chinmoy Peace Run Day” is declared by Proclamation by Mayor Merv Teixeira of Carson City, Nevada as the Peace Run visits the city.
• 2026. Follow the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run team as they visit 50-states
