South Carolina factoids: The capital of South Carolina is Columbia; its largest city (by pop.) is Charleston. Today’s population in South Carolina is approximately 5.5 million (averaging around 175 people per square mile). South Carolina’s state tree is the ‘Sabal palmetto’; its state flower is the ‘Yellow Jessamine’; its state bird the ‘Carolina Wren’; and its state fruit is the ‘Peach’. South Carolina’s State Mottos are: “Dum Spiro Spero” (While I Breathe, I Hope) and “Animis Opibusque Parati” (Prepared in Mind and Resources).

1982

  • 20 July 1982. Lecture on ____ in Stevens Auditorium at the University of South Carolina in Lancaster, SC.
    • As part of his ’50 Oneness-State-Songs’ tour, Sri Chinmoy ran 7-miles ‘solo’ in South Carolina.

1987-current, the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run passes through North Carolina bi-annually on its cross-country trek and engages with its welcoming citizens (see example of photos of a previous visit)
