Utah (UT). The 45th state to join the Union in 1896

Utah factoids: The capital of Utah is Salt Lake City — which is also its largest city. Known as the ‘Beehive State’, today’s population is approximately 3.5 million (averaging around 37 people per square mile). Utah’s state tree is the ‘Quaking Aspen’; its state flower is the ‘Sego Lily’; its state bird the ‘California Gull’; its state fruit is the ‘Cherry’. Utah’s State Motto is: “Industry”.

1974

• April 24, 1974. As part of his 50-state tour, Sri Chinmoy delivers his first lecture for the day —in 3 states— at 10am at the at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT.
  • The lecture is entitled “What Has Life Taught Me?”.

    • 

      After the lecture, Sri Chinmoy answered the following questions:

      • • Q: Sometimes when I talk to others, my mind sees a duality. In the act of trying to see the good in others, I feel a separation. What do you recommend?
        • Q: What is the power that brings down God’s Presence in all our actions and allows us to feel our oneness with God?
        • Q: Will you accept me as your student?
        • Q: I’ve found in my search for God that He is all around me and within me. The unity with Him is becoming very understandable. What is puzzling me is the separation. What is the sense of separation?

1987-current, the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run often visits Utah on its cross-country trek and engages with its welcoming citizens (see example of photos of its previous visit).
