50 Oneness-State-Songs: an unwavering patriot of both his birthplace and of his adopted country, Sri Chinmoy meditated on, wrote extensively about, and composed hundreds of songs in honor of these lands that he cherished.

Among the many songs Sri Chinmoy composed on America, his adopted country, this one is perhaps the most powerful:

America, America, America!
Great you are, good you are,
Brave you are, kind you are.
O my America, America.
Your Heaven-freedom is earth’s aspiration-choice.
With you, in you, is God-Hour’s Victory-Voice.

In 1975, in anticipation of America’s bicentennial, Sri Chinmoy composed 50 melodies, one for each of the names of the fifty states in America. This project was just one of many in which Sri Chinmoy paid his tribute to the unique quality each state embodies (see here for the numerous other activities).

Over ten years later, on 13 April 1986, Sri Chinmoy again sang these 50 melodic songs. As he sang each song, he invited his students who had been born in that state to come up and meditate with him.

The song below was composed as the ‘title’ song of the 50 individual melodies.

Fifty oneness-state-songs, 
Our Lord’s Compassion-Gongs. 
Within, without, a seeker’s sleepless cry 
To reveal America’s perfection-sky.

Now, in 2026, to celebrate the 250th anniversary our nation’s Independence, Sri Chinmoy’s students will once again honor each state by organizing a special 50-state edition of the annual Peace Run (2026 Peace Run).

This page on DevotionSongs and my research project of activities in each state was inspired by Harita, who had the goal to learn each of the 50 state songs below for her 50th birthday. Fifty Oneness-State-Songs (alphabetically)

Important note: while Sri Chinmoy composed many (many!) songs with complex lyrics, this set of 50 songs are unique in that they only contain the name of the State, repeated mantric-like several times. Sri Chinmoy did *not* count these — nor other songs/melodies which he did not write its unique lyrics to — in his lifetime total of over 23,000 songs.
